Welcome to the league, the hope is to have a very competitive, active, and fun dynasty league.
Just a few housekeeping items as we get everyone signed up and the league up and running before the auctions kick off.
- If you can put or use your team name as your profile name (ie "Phil - Bourbon Barons", "Bourbon Barons", etc), that will help everyone know which team you manage for trade talks and help the admin know for roster change processing. Since we are all new it will help speed up the learning curve for which team everyone has.
- The rules are copied from another league which has been running for a long time and is one of the best around. Please try to read through them all and ask any questions you have. The rule list is long, however there aren't many grey areas that could cause confusion. Should be pretty cut and dry on any issues. Some of the guys here are in the original league, so they can help with any rule questions as well.
- The start of the auction will be announced as soon as we get everyone signed up and up to speed on the rules.
Inaugural Auction - One Time Rule Adjustments
- Since we are just starting up, and have a quick turnaround, the rules for this initial auction period will be adjusted slightly in order to accommodate our shortened calendar.
1) Auctions for this initial period will be marked as SOLD after only 24 hours without a bid. The typical rule is 48 hours.
2) Teams can only call 2 names to start auctions at first. Since there are some managers new to this format, this initial auction rule will allow fewer players to be on the board at first and provide a less chaotic learning curve. After a week has elapsed managers will then be able to have 3 players listed at any time.
3) No player won in auction during the initial auction period can be traded with a contract attached before the start of the season. Typically any traded player must first have a contract assigned. However, in order to keep the long term contracts in check for the league, any player traded before the first day of the fantasy season must have a contract pending. The team receiving the player will assign the newly acquired player a contract length along with their other players after the auctions have ended.
Please keep close track of your salary cap and bid accordingly. Any bids putting you over the cap limit will be invalid. Remember all 26 roster spots must be filled at the start of the season, so you must budget at least $1 for every remaining open spot.
It is also recommended to keep at least $5 set aside for the season to use as DLR cash for when players on your roster go on the DL/NA.
Since we are tight on time, please try not to use last minute bidding as a strategy for the initial auction period. With 416 players to auction we don't want this to drag on for a long time. Bid accordingly please!
Inaugural Prospect Draft
The inaugural draft will start immediately after the last player (416th) has been mark SOLD from the auctions.
The draft will consist of 96 prospects selected in 6 rounds, performed in a snake-draft. The order will be randomly selected. In future drafts there will only be 4 rounds with the order in reverse of the final regular season standings. The 6 rounds for the inaugural year are to help build the prospect pipeline from the start.
In order to follow the prospect salary chart established in the rules there will be a supplmental round added for round 1 and 3. therefore the contract costs break out as follows for this draft:
- Round 1 and Round 1a: - players drafted in the 1st round, and 1st supplemental round, cost $3.5 in the season you promote them, $5.25 in their 2nd season and $7 in the third, fourth and fifth years.
- Round 2: - players drafted in the 2nd round cost $2.5 in the season you promote them, $3.75 in their 2nd season and $5 in the third, fourth and fifth years.
- Round 3, 3a, and 4 - players drafted in the 3rd, 3rd supplemental, and 4th rounds cost $1.5 in the season you promote them, $2.25 in their second season and $3 in the third, fourth and fifth years.
Any player who still have rookie status (130 ABs or less, 50 IP or less) and was not sold during the auctions can be drafted. This includes players from minor leagues, foreign leagues, college, high school, etc.
