Hasn’t the trade deadline passed already?

Yes it has. So the trade won't process until after the season per my understanding, which I'm fine with since I'm not competing this year anyway.

Not so sure I agree with this. I`ve never heard of trades being made months in advance to circumvent the trade deadline. If this is`nt going into effect til after the season why not wait til trading is open again in the off season to post.

Yes, this trade is fine. Nothing will change for this season. This will not take effect until the new season begins the 1st week of October. See the official rule below.
82 - any trade made after this deadline up until the conclusion of our leagues playoffs will affect the rosters for the following season(s)* and so players will not be moved from one roster to another on the Yahoo league page as per Rule 80 during this period. Trades made during this period will be edited into the following seasons official roster threads on this site, as will any trade made from the conclusion of our league playoffs up until the point Yahoo reopens the following season.
* as trades made during this period affect future seasons, players on 1 year contracts may not be traded during this time as such players will be considered free agents for the October auction window.

If this is`nt going into effect til after the season why not wait til trading is open again in the off season to post. There is no circumvention of the trade deadline as has been explained. Also, there are plenty of reasons to make a trade now rather than wait 2 months. We came to an agreement we both liked on player valuations. Rizzo could hit 15 HRs the rest of the season and convince me not to trade him, or raise his price. Same for Mejia or Renfroe. On the flip side Mejia could get called up and hit .100 the rest of the season depressing his value. Same for Rizzo or Renfroe. It also keeps other teams from making better deals for those players and ruining the trade we came to agree upon. Making the trade now on valuations we agree upon makes more sense than “waiting to see” does when there is zero impact to the actual games being played.

Spin it how ever you want I still don`t like it. I won`t vote on the trade. It is fair but as I`ve stated don`t agree to the process. I`ve never been in leagues where you can post date a trade. You don`t see MLB doing it either. Rule needs to be looked at in the off season imo. Guess I`m too old school. Oh well carry on
