October 5th, 00:01 ET - New season begins. Contracts decrement by 1 year. Minor League promotions are allowed. Mandatory call-ups take place. Players are extended option contracts.
October 8th, 00:00 ET - Option/mandatory call-up deadline. Players without contracts file for free agency.
October 8th, 00:01 ET - All pending trades pass and trading is turned back "on".
November 1st, 12:00 ET -October November auction window opens. Owners may only start auctions on free agents departing their own team.
November 30th, 23:59 ET -October November auction window closes. No more auctions may be started, existing auctions run to conclusion.
December 1st, 00:00 ET - "Festive break" - trades require 11 yes votes to close, or must wait until January 19th, 12:00 ET.
January 15th, 00:00 ET - "Festive break" ends; normal trade procedures re-instated.
February 8th, 12:00 ET - February auction window opens. Teams may start auctions on any qualifying player, including rookies with major league play time.
March 5th, 12:00 ET - Minor League Draft begins.
March 10th, 12:00 ET (== 1 week following the close of February auction) - Contract assignment deadline for all players won before this date. Any players won after this time have the normal 72-hour contract window.
March 11th, 0:00 ET (== 12 hours following contract assignment deadline) - Auctions are open, but rookies are ineligible. Players may be cut, except those with rookie status.
August 16th, 00:00 ET - Trade deadline. Any trades posted after this date do not take effect until after the close of the call-up/option windows on Oct 8th.
September 1st, 00:00 ET - Roster freeze. Players may not be cut, auctioned or promoted in any fashion. DL Replacements may still be added, dropped or swapped as necessary/legal.
September 6th, 00:00 ET (== Last day before playoffs) - DLR freeze. Playoff teams can no longer drop or "swap" DLR's without a forcing reason (player comes off the DL, or DLR goes on the DL or becomes NA, etc.). Non-playoff teams can no longer add or drop DLR's for any reason.
