Just to make sure I get this trade, you traded Alford to save $1 for the next three years and $2 this year? You do understand the drop rules right?

Dropping Wong would only cost you $2 each year going forward. So by paying $1 to flames you only net $1 extra. Seems like giving up on Alford for $1 is kind of crazy. But if you understand the drop rules and see that as a good value then that is all that matters.

I understand the rules. Alford's having a terrible year in A ball. I'm fine with getting extra money for the price of a risky prospect. No one else wanted the deal, it's there loss. Great deal for both sides IMO.

Plus, if Wong happens to get dropped. Not saying he will, but if he does, I could bid on him whereas if I dropped him I couldn't.

Glad to hear it, as long as you are aware of the drop rule was all I wanted to know.

I don't get why this has vetoes considering that he offered Alford and Wong for nothing on his trade block and nobody else considered it worth doing

Probably bc they feel selling a top prospect (#25 in baseball America) for $1 in cap space isn't a fair rate. And that's their right to veto.
You ask the same question every time there is a veto on your trades, just ignore them. It doesn't matter unless there is 6 no votes. Rarely does anyone speak up on why the voted no, so it's probably easier to just expect a veto and ignore it when it happens.
